Also, luckily saw this note from ayan artan as soon as I hit publish: https://substack.com/@ayanartan/note/c-204915159?r=6eis9&utm_source=notes-share-action&utm_medium=web

I'll also be spending the day browsing the resources compiled in the Stand with Minnesota website here: https://www.standwithminnesota.com/

What are your favorite films for costuming and styling?

I'm such a tv show person cuz what immediately comes to mind is Friends and Rachel's classic 90s styling (her wardrobe feels so timeless, likely because her style is so in right in), The Great on Hulu for elaborate and ostentatious 18th century Russian royalty, and Severance, of course (every detail on that show, from costume to set design, is magnificent!).

Trying to expand my horizons and watch more film this year though :D

what chapstick do you use to combat winter dryness? I feel like nothing works!

The one I'm using in the pic is the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm (mine is Pink Sugar). I'm p sure I got it for free from Sephora either for my birthday gift or by using some points :P Otherwise I've been liking Merit's tinted lip oils (I'm psure I have Marrakech and Tabby). I gave up on real chapstick years ago cuz it never worked for me either!

Did you have a fave pair of fashionable supportive sneakers? I’ve been brainstorming this (my current pair are falling apart) and it all feels so depressing- to find an ethical brand that makes a women’s size 12 wide that doesn’t look explicitly orthopedic.

Oooh great q. I’ve been living in my Salomon XT-6 pair all year which have been great for really long days walking. Before that I would go through a pair of New Balance 574s every 9-12 months because the cushioning would wear through. Both of those shoes are unisex so I think it should be possible to find a larger size.

Re ethical/sustainable the first brand that comes to mind is Veja. I have an older V10 pair which tbh is a fashion sneaker thats not supportive at all, but they have other styles like the Venturi (some color ways are unisex and go up to a larger foot size) that look a lot more robust (I have not tried on this style).

I don’t recall ever finding an explicitly wide foot sneaker, I usually just expect them to widen with use for my extra wide feet.

Whose writing inspires you? And/or fave books to read (or reread) when the weather is blah?
